Alayne is a widow from Westport Manor whose husband was a soldier killed during the drow invasion of the city. His death left her to fend for their young daughter Madalyn by herself. She worked at the Hero’s Rest Tavern in Westport to support them until she met a wealthy man named Javna from the city of Alacanté who promised to marry her. She met Devon while she was travelling with a caravan to her new home. Devon who was travelling under the guise of a commoner along with Maya who was pretending to be his wife quickly noticed how awful the man was to the mother and child. Maya insisted they get involved but Devon was afraid if they did their presence would be noticed and their quest a failure. They shared a wagon with the three travelers and began to look after the mother and child forming a fast bond with them. Three days into the trip the caravan was attacked by raiders and Devon was forced to act. He and Maya killed the raiders, saving the caravan but were forced to continue on their own. before they set off though, Devon cast a geas on the cruel man forcing him to give up his wealth and help the less fortunate. He then gave Alayne a pouch of cut rubies and arranged a transport back to Westport where she and Madalyn would be safe and able to live comfortably. Alayne figured out who he actually was and accepted his offer of protection and support for herself and her daughter. She bought a house for her and Madalyn and currently live in Westport where Devon and Maya continue to look after them.
